One designer has made his marks in the fashion industry by creating a flower like dress during this year’s Paris Fashion Week Autumn-Winter Collection 2010-2011. Inspired by Christian Dior Haute Couture collection, the iconic “Tulip Line”, Galliano said “I wanted to bring a bold new bloom into the salon and let the color, texture and structure of flowers inspire a new beauty and create the contemporary Ligne Florale

Galliano’s collections of flowery dress represent a fragrant mix of abstraction and a modern femininity color. The floral shape structure is supported by top of the art cutting technique that mix silk with natural spectrum of color that makes these dresses look marvelous, beautiful and yet elegant.

Galliano used different forms of flowers for this collection including: Parrot Tulops, Crocuses, Orchids, Pansies, Poppies and Sweet peas.

The climate change has taken its toll. Human error and pollution have caused a significant increase of world global temperature. One of the planet creatures that suffered from this phenomenon is the plants and there are many undiscovered plants that might also dissapear because of global warming and habitat loss. According to author Lucas Joppa of Microsoft Research in Cambridge,U.K: “Scientists have estimated that, overall, there could be between 5 million and 50 million species, but fewer than 2 million of these species have been discovered to date,”

Enviroment friendly dress

Going green has become very famous notion in today’s world. The idea for this is to save the planet by creating things that are harmless to the environment, especially the plants.

Recently, I saw another going-green action in the fashion industry! Maybe it sounds new in this industry but believe it or not, a Italian designer Linda Schailon made the craziest idea by creating a dress covered with live plant. The Sprinkle Dress features a wire skirt that covers all below part of the dress with the plants attached to it.

A crazy but funny creation. It reminds people how important it is to conserve plants to save the planet. A very interesting innovation.

Give me your thoughts!

The newly look “Champs Elysées”

One of the most famous and glamorous avenue in the world the “champs-élysées” avenue of Paris made headlines last Saturday and Sunday. The advertising buzz has circulated around the city couple of days prior to the exhibition about  a giant venue that will take place in one of paris main tourist’s destination. The avenue will be completely transformed into a giant garden that exhibit different species of plants and livestock.

This idea was initiated by the organization of young French farmers “L’union des jeunes Agriculteurs” presented by 55,000 young farmers under the age of 35, to install a giant garden along a half mile stretch of the avenue.

More than 8000 parcels of soil

In this “Elysian Field”, the exhibition starts from “place de l’Etoile” until the round point of Champs Elysées. The organizers have carried about 8000 parcels of soil for about 300 kg each to be installed on the 1,2 km long avenue. Moreoever, there were more than 100 different types of vegetations (vegetables, flowers, cereals, fruits, etc) and 500 tons of chopped woods to be displayed in this two days exhibition. It was also possible to buy some of these plants in the stands in the sidewalk of the avenue.

A positive approach by the farmers againts the government

The advertising buzz was already all around the parisian newspapers and television two days prior to the exhibition. The idea behind this exhibition is to inform the people about the tensions in farming over environmental legislation that they say has penalized their competitiveness. Since Nicolas Sarkozy took over the government, the agricultural workers have seemed to be alienated. This cause some anger by the farmers and it went to its worst when  revenues for the farmers fell into its lowest. This provoked a tractor-led demonstration in front of the presidential palace couple of months ago.

Fortunately, yesterday’s exhibition was far from negative. The president of the “Jeunes Agriculteurs” William Villeneuve said “this is more like a celebration instead of protest”. He also added “They were successfully gathered farmers, lorry drivers, truck drivers, woodsmen, events planners: these men don’t usually work together, but here everyone is doing so with a smile,”

A very brilliant idea to gather support from the people by implementing positive demonstration instead of demonstration with violence and hatred.

The mystery of plants

Have you ever think in whether your plants that you have at your house can feel hunger or sad when they are not properly feed or whether you don’t give them enough water? Maybe it sounds a little bit crazy but plants do have emotions, they just express it a different manner as they communicate through chemical signals.

The Polygraph Test

An American scientist Cleve Backster conducted a research in 1966 that lead to the conclusion that plants can communicate with other life forms. The test involved the use of water and a polygraph/lie detector that is usually used for humans. Polygraph can measure electrical resistance and water would alter the resistance of the leaf. After the test, Backster has confirmed that

the tracing began to show a pattern typical of the response you get when you subject a human to emotional stimulation of short duration

Cleve Backster

Moreover, Backster conducted the second “more extreme” test that involved burning the leave of the plant in order to know its reaction to heat. Surprisingly, even before touching the leaves, he discovered that there was a dramatic upward sweep in the tracing pattern as if the plant can feels Backster’ intention to burn the leaf even before he touched it. As a result, the fact had come to a conclusion that plants can’t not only feel things, but can also perceive bad intentions as it relates to the plant itself.

This is sound bizarre right? but it’s true. A homeplant will have a healthy grow by showering them with talk and tender touch, just ask Prince Charles :). They will feel “happier” if we give them more attention and affection. Because at the end of the day, they feel like we feel. They feel love like we feel love, they can feel pain when we hurt them. They are just like us and the animals.

This is what we need to realize, plants are not only a living vegetation that dont feel any physical pain when we hurt them, actually the do. It howl just like animals when you cut or burn its leaves…only we just couldn’t hear it.

Therefore, it’s time for human to think about changing our perspection about plants. We need to treat them with more care and more love. We need to get rid of our animals mind by destroying other living creatures. Try to understand them better, give more attention to them just like you threat your pet. Remember that plants play a big major in our ecosystem, it’s not too late to support green environment.
